Recycle Information
The following is a revised schedule regarding the Crawford County Recycling program.
The Dates and times for your area as follows:
Beaver Creek Township: Merrio Road Transfer Station
Winter Hours - 8am to 1 pm on Saturdays and 1pm - 6pm on Sundays
April - October - Same Times as above plus 4pm - 7pm on WednesdaysGrayling Township - North Down River Road Transfer Site
Lovells Township: Note Locations
The 1st - 15th of the month - North Site, Old-612
The 15th - end of the month - North Down River Rd site
Wednesdays & Saturdays from noon - 4 pm
Sundays 9am - 1pmSouth Branch Township: Pioneer Road Transfer Station
Saturday, Sunday, Monday & Wednesday from 8 am - 11 am, 1 pm - 5pm.Waters Landfill - 11375 N. Sherman Rd
Mon - Fri 8 am - 4 pm, Saturday 8 am - 12 noon.All residents of Crawford County including the City of Grayling and Maple Forest Township may use the Grayling Township Transfer Station during normal hours of operation for recycling purposes. This does not include garbage disposal.
Items Accepted
Newspaper: bundled in brown paper bags or tied with string.
NO: Coupons, envelopes or junk mail.Magazines: Glossy magazines, catalogs and glossy inserts.
NO: Phone books, TV Guides or Readers Digest.
**Please separate newspapers and magazines.Cardboard: Corrugated only.
NO: Grayboard (i.e.: cereal boxes) or wax coated cardboard.Plastic #1 & #2: Please rinse and remove caps and rings.
NO: Oil containers, containers with the poison symbol, or containers other than #1 or #2.
(The number can be found inside the triangle on the bottom of the container)Milk Jugs: Rinse and remove caps and rings.
Tin Cans: Rinse, remove labels and flatten if possible.
NO: Paint cans, aerosol cans or scrap metal.Aluminum cans & foil: Separate from Tin.
NO: Dirty or burned items.** Under no circumstances will medical waste (i.e.: syringes) be accepted.
Glass and Styrofoam are only accepted at the Grayling Township and Waters Landfill sites.
Glass: Rinse and remove caps.
NO: Frosted Glass, blue glass, Pyrex or scrap (i.e.: broken windows or mirrors).Styrofoam: Clean Styrofoam and packing materials.
NO: Foam insulation.--------------------------------------------
2007 Household Hazardous Waste Day for Crawford County is scheduled for June 16, 2007 9am - 2pm in the Crawford County Building Parking Lot 200 W. Michigan Ave Grayling
Scrap tires (passenger vehicles) will also be accepted for $ 1.00, larger vehicle tires are more. More information will be posted as the date gets closer.
